Obituary of Lorraine Margaret Eickmeyer
Lorraine Margaret Eickmeyer, age 78 of West Melbourne, Fl, passed away on February 16, 2024. A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
Lorraine was born on April 26, 1945, in Dover, NJ, to George and Elizabeth (Wills) Willis. She grew up in Mt Hope and graduated from Dover, Highschool in 1963. After graduation she worked at Bell Labs and married Gerald Eickmeyer at Teabo Methodist Church in 1967. Jerry passed away in 2003.
Lorraine was known to be a devoted animal lover and rescuer. She never met an animal that she didn't love and who didn't love her. She fed any stray animal and adopted a number of feral cats over the years as well as birds that just found their way to her outstretched loving hands, especially her beloved cockatiel whom she named Sporty and who was known for his piercing "wolf" whistle.
Jerry's work required them to live in a number of different towns and states, but most of their married life was spent in Florida. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers, Ron and George (Bunky) Willis, her sister-in-law Judy, and her nephew Robbie Willis. She is survived by her sister-in-law Marie, brother-in-law David and wife Carol, her nephews Jeff, Craig and Jason Willis and their wives Sheree, Robin and Jackie, her niece in-law Carolyn Willis, her nieces Darlene and Cheryl Willis, and many great nieces and nephews.
