Viola Lorraine Godes, age 89, a 55-year resident of Colville, WA passed away on Sept. 7, 2022 at her Colville home. Lorraine was born on Sept. 18, 1932 in New England, ND the daughter of Frank Peter and Magelana (Madler) Stecher.
Lorraine attended the local country school house in New England, ND through the 8 grade. She the went to work as a waitress at the New England Café. She later worked for the hospital in Dickenson and then again to waitressing for Frankie's. On May 22, 1956 she married Nicholas Godes in Spokane, WA where they began a family. Lorraine helped to support the needs of her family working both in and outside of her home. Outside the home she found work opportunities at a nursing home, ball park, horseraces, athletic and entertainment events at the Spokane Coliseum. After moving to Colville in 1967, Lorraine continued working outside the home until most recently. Her employment included Friedmans Grocery, Barney's, Fonk's, Two Swabbies, Family Bargain Center, Cow Country and then to Walmart in 1993.
Lorraine had a great faith and was a devote Catholic. She enjoyed the social interaction and dancing with her husband Nick as members of Colville Eagles Lodge Aerie #2797. They also shared many seasons of friendship and league bowling at the Copper Bowl in Colville, WA.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Godes; two sons, Keith and Kevin Godes; six siblings, Joe, Ramie, Elizabeth, Vernon, Marlene and Mary.
She is survived by three sons, Ronald Godes of Nampa, ID; Gary Godes (Donna) of Northport, WA, Larry Godes (Sherry) of Baker City, OR, 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; brothers, Richard Stecher (Aggie) of Glendive, MT, Clifford Stecher (Linda) of New England, ND, Wilford Stecher (Jeanne) of Billings, MT; sister, Lavern Bourdeau of Minnesota; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family.
Services for Mrs. V. Lorraine Godes, will begin with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2022 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colville, WA, Father Kenny St. Hilaire as celebrant. She will be placed to rest beside her husband, Nick, in an urn wall niche at the Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
