Lorraine Marie Jerzak

Lorraine Jerzak, age 85, of Canby, MN passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Sylvan Court Nursing Home in Canby, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, May 6th at St. Peters Catholic Church in Canby, MN. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm on Monday, May 5th at the Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel in Canby, MN with Rosary at 5pm and a prayer service at 7pm. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery in Canby, MN. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel in Canby, MN has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Lorraine Marie Jerzak was born in Tyler, Minnesota on June 20, 1939 to John and Erma (Van Steenkiste) De Pestel. She received her holy sacraments of baptism, first communion, confirmation at St Cyriel & Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton, MN. She attended country school at District 33 for eight years near Porter, MN and she graduated high school in Morris, MN at West Central School of Agriculture in 1957.
On September 4, 1957 Lorraine was united in marriage to Emmett Jerzak at St. Cyriel & Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton, MN. After they were married they lived on the family farm near Ivanhoe where she also helped with all the farm work alongside her husband. They moved to Canby in 1962 and in 1965 they were blessed with their son Todd James. She worked at John Swenson Memorial Hospital for 25 years as a nurse's aid. In 1978, Lorraine went to work at Paulson Drug, now Canby Drug and Gift and retired in 2013 after 35 years of service.
Lorraine enjoyed volunteering whenever and wherever she could. She was a taxi for many people throughout the years. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and the CCW.
Grateful for having shared Lorraine's life is her son, Todd and Tracy Jerzak of Rochester, MN and one granddaughter, Karlee Jerzak of Plymouth, MN; her siblings: Richard (Sharon) De Pestel of Utica, MN, Dorothy (Dave) Algyer of Tracy, MN, James (Lana) De Pestel of Canby, MN and Carol (Joey) Johnson of Walnut Grove, MN along with three nieces, six nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Erma De Pestel; her husband, Emmett Jerzak.
