Lorraine B. Lebel, 91, of
Biddeford, Maine, passed away on January 8th after a brief illness, with her family lovingly by her side.
Born in Biddeford on January 23rd, 1934, to Paul and Juliette (Houle) Gagne, Lorraine grew up in the community she cherished throughout her life. She attended St. André's School and later earned her GED from Biddeford High School. In September of 1952, she married the love of her life, Maurice R. Lebel, and together they built a wonderful life until his passing in 2000.
Lorraine worked for several local businesses over the years, including Fishman's, United Auto Parts, John Roberts, FMI, and Seal Rock. After retiring, she embraced a life of travel and companionship with her partner, John Barrows, spending cherished seasons between Molasses Pond in Eastbrook, Maine, and Zephyrhills, Florida, until March of 2025. She was a proud member of the Daughters of Isabella and the York County Veterans Alliance Club.
She was predeceased by her husband Maurice Lebel; her partner John Barrows; her sister Pauline Cloutier; her brothers-in-law David Inman, Norman Nadeau, Bernard Lebel, and Leo Cloutier; and her great-grandson Noah Smith.
Lorraine leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her memory close: Her sons Ronald Lebel and his wife Debra of Biddeford, and Mark Lebel and his wife Connie of Fredericksburg, VA; Her daughters Bridget Grenier and her husband Mike of Lyman, and Brenda Guerrido and Alex of Valrico, FL. She is also survived by her sister Claire Inman, and her sisters-in-law Paulette Nadeau and Dotty Lebel.
Lorraine was blessed with eight grandchildren: Cassandra Binette (Jeff) of Kennebunk; Tara Forcier (Randy) of Biddeford; Jenna Lebel (Ned Prickett) of Brookline, MA; Kayla Smith (Bernard) of Franklin, VA; Brianna Caywood (Ryan) of Mechanicsville, MD; Brittany Lebel (Tim Wood) of Henrico, VA; Chantelle Elbon (Nicholas) of Orlando, FL; Erika Cloutier of Waldorf, MD. She is also survived by one step-grandson, Richard Grenier (Kim), and two step-granddaughters, Marinelitz Gonzalez (Nicholas) and Torrey Archer. Her legacy continues through thirteen great-grandchildren-Amber Grenier; Cole, Mason, and Mia Binette; Aubrey, Ellie, and Nora Forcier; Sawyer Smith; Makenzie and Michael Caywood; River Wood-and two more little ones on the way.
Visiting Hours will be from 5-7PM on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial take place at 1PM on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford.
