Lorraine LaRue Sherman 77 of Manahawkin, NJ passed away on Sunday February 25, 2024. Born in Goodland, KS she was raised and lived in Sharon Springs, KS and has lived in Manahawkin, NJ for the last 51 years. Lorraine was a dedicated teacher and educator. She first worked at Ethel Jacobsen School in Ship Bottom, NJ from 1971 to 1983 and then at Lighthouse Christian Academy in Manahawkin from 1990 until 2024, where she also served as Principal. Lorraine attended Bayside Chapel in Barnegat and lead Bible study groups for young girls and women. She enjoyed sewing and cooking but most of all spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents LeRue and Betty Pilger and sister Barbara Kueker.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years Robert Sherman, son David Sherman and wife Holly of West Creek, daughter Amanda Torres and husband Jonathan of Little Egg Harbor, brother Norman Pilger and wife Martha of Sharon Springs, KS, sister Kay Klinge and husband David of Sharon Springs, KS and grandchildren Ella, Hudson, Robert, Theodore, Lorraine and Charles.
Visitation will be held on Friday March 1, 2024 from 4pm to 8pm at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Road Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. A Memorial Service: Celebration of Life will be held at Bayside Chapel 965 W. Bay Avenue Barnegat, NJ 08005 on Saturday, March 16th 2024 at 4pm. Burial will be held privately by the family.
