Lorraine Stevens
Our loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all, Carol Lorraine Stevens, 93, peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on August 9, 2025, at the Good Life Senior Living Center in
Price, Utah.
Lorraine was born January 9, 1932, on a farm in South Flat (Worland) Wyoming, to Devon and Polly Opal Brubaker. She was the fourth of six children and grew up surrounded by the beauty of Wyoming farmland. Her childhood was filled with the simple joys of country life-helping with chores, caring for animals, and walking on the tops of fence posts to school when the snow was too deep. In the latter years Lorraine spent hours and hours with her parents, siblings, & their families wandering the Jade fields for jade and the baron, sagebrush ridden badlands, for arrowheads & fossils. Those years instilled in her a deep appreciation for hard work, the importance of family, and the wonders of God's creations.
On November 26, 1949, Lorraine married her sweetheart, Thurman "Steve" Stevens, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Utah Temple on June 8, 1968, sealing their eternal bond.
Lorraine was left to raise their first daughter Steva, while Steve served his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Throughout his military service and beyond, Lorraine was a steadfast and supportive wife, demonstrating strength, patience, and unwavering love.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lorraine faithfully served in many church callings over the years, blessing the lives of those she taught and ministered to. One of her most treasured experiences was serving alongside Steve as ordinance workers in the Manti Utah Temple for eight years.
Lorraine had a passion for Family History, dedicating countless hours to researching and preserving her own families' stories. She loved learning about her ancestors and took pride in sharing their legacy with her children and grandchildren. In 1967, she and her family settled in Carbon County, Utah, where she quickly became a beloved part of the community teaching neighbors and ward members to make suckers and many other fun things she brought from her Wyoming upbringing. Over the decades, she built lasting friendships and was known for her kindness and willingness to help anyone in need.
Before Lorraine lost her eyesight, she found joy in simple pleasures-visiting with loved ones, playing card games, putting together puzzles, tending to her yard, crocheting, embroidering, and quilting beautiful creations for family and friends….but above all, watching her family grow.
Her greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will remember her for her gentle guidance, her quiet wisdom, and the way she made each one feel loved.
Lorraine is survived by her two daughters and their spouses: Steva (Ron) Bryan of Rigby, Idaho, and Rita (Kevin) Dunn of
Price, Utah; her sister Marjorie Mason, Wyola Mabury, Harvey (Virgie) Brubaker (all from Worland, Wyoming)7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Thurman Stevens; her infant son, Gary Dee; her parents and sisters, Adell Mosely and Roberta Lell and other beloved family members who welcomed her home.
Lorraine's life was one of devotion-to God, to her family, and to the countless friends she considered family. Her love, faith, and example will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
