Lorraine Patricia Utecht Szymanski, born on September 3, 1937, in Alpena, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025, just 4 days before her 88th birthday, surrounded by her loving family. She was the eldest daughter of the late Florian and Francis (Modrzynski) Utecht, and a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and grace touched many lives.

On June 6, 1959, Lorraine married Richard Adams, with whom she shared 39 cherished years and raised five beloved daughters. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1998. Lorraine retired from Stoneport Corporation in 2000. On September 30, 2000, she married Elmer Kindt. He also preceded her in death on July 27, 2008. She was a devoted member of All Saints Catholic Parish, where she actively participated in the All Saints of Alpena Sodality and the Choir. Her love of music was a source of joy and spiritual connection throughout her life, and she found deep comfort in the hymns she sang.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Gary Szymanski; her children, Karen (Ken) MacKinnon, Connie Kromer, Janice Bailey, Joan Adams-Videtch, Marge (Pat) Noblett, Randy (Mary) Kruse, Carol Nowland. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Stacy (Josh), Lindsay (Emily), Scott (Alison), Joe (Ashlee), Megan (Jeff), Ryan (Olivia), Matt (Samantha), Alison, Jessica (Paul), Chelsea (Mike), Stephanie, as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Her brothers Ken (Dede) Utecht, Ron (Charlotte) Utecht, Jim (Lillian) Utecht; brother-in-law; Jamie Barley; sisters-in-law; Gayle Grzeskowiak, Linda Wascher; many other dear family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother John Utecht; her sister, Dorothy Ann Barley; and her beloved dog, Charlie.

Memorial visitation will take place on Friday, September 5, 2025, at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. with Rev. Aloysius Okpala officiating. Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
