Paul M. Carriveau

Paul M. Carriveau, 91, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025.

Born on January 10, 1934, to the late Joseph and Helen (Chauvin) Carriveau, Paul's life was one of dedication, service, and love.

Paul grew up in Spruce, surrounded by a large and loving family. He was a proud graduate of Alpena High School, class of 1951. After graduation, Paul enlisted in the Army proudly serving his country. Following his service time, Paul embarked on a distinguished 35-year career at GM/AC Delco, where he was not only a dedicated employee but also a passionate union representative, advocating for his colleagues with vigor and fairness.

His commitment to his community was evident through his active involvement in various organizations. Paul was a devout Christian and a long-time member of St. Catherine Church, where he dutifully served as an usher. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life, and he found great joy in serving his church community.

In addition to his religious devotion, Paul was a past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, achieving the esteemed 4th degree. He was also a proud member of the UAW Retirees and an active participant in the Democratic Party, where he championed the values of equality and justice.

Paul's personal life was filled with love and companionship. He married his first wife, Ollie Floyd, on December 28, 1965, and together they shared many happy years until her passing. Paul found love again and married Ethel McClung Davis on August 26, 2005, who also preceded him in death. His family was his pride and joy, including his parents, his brothers Harold (Carlene) Carriveau and Gerald Carriveau, his sister Helen (James) Grochowski, step-children Larry and Diana, many step-grandchildren, step-greatgrandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings Thomas, Carol, Mary, George, Robert, Irving, Alvin, Louis, Earl, Joseph, Evelyn, and Rose.

An outdoorsman at heart, Paul relished the time he spent hunting and fishing. These activities brought him closer to nature and provided him with a sense of peace and solitude. His love for the outdoors was only matched by his love for his family and friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at St. Catherine Church in Ossineke from 9am until the mass at 11am. K of C rites and military honors accorded by VFW Post #2496 will be graveside at the church cemetery following. McWilliams Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
