Surrounded by family, Loretta Lynn Byous left this world on May 30, 2023 in Burlington, IA after a brutal battle with Leukemia. She was 64.
Better known as "Cookey" to much of her family, Lynn was born in Modesto, CA but spent the later years of her life in the simple comforts of the Midwest. She will be remembered as a vibrant and charismatic woman who marched through life to the beat of her own drum. Her song was one of persistence, perseverance and above all, humor. She was an animated storyteller and her laugh was contagious. She was the "cool" aunt. She was the ever-proud lover of all cats, having taken in just about every stray she ever encountered. She both loved and fought so fiercely.
Lynn is survived by her daughter, Desiree Marchant; granddaughter, Kellie Marchant; brother, Larry Friesen; sisters, Dawn Clausen, Kitty (Nick) Bakker, Lawanna (Bob) Soto, and Ginger Edwards; and her many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lori, Linda and Lana, and her brother, Mark.
After inurnment, a remembrance will be held privately for her family.
Prugh Funeral Service is in care of arrangements.
Cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, her family has set up a fund to assist with end of life expenses at https://gofund.me/5eae9919.
