Lorry B. Cox-Shaw, 69, began her life journey June 30, 1956 in
Chicago, Illinois born to the union of Arthur and Gewndolyn Cox. She is proceeded in transition by her parents, her grand parents Wilmoth and Helen Bowen and Arthur and Alice Cox; brother Gregory Cox; uncles Vince Garnett, Richard Cox, Robert Cox, Lamont Cox and Cranston Cox; aunts Wilma Curry, Alice Cox, Margo Cox, Loretta Cox, Myrna Loy Cox and Portia Cox; niece Kale Golston; mother in law Blanche I. Shaw; sister in law Teresa Pope. Lorry was a native of Chicago, she attended the schools in the city of Chicago and after graduation, went on to attend the University of Iowa receiving her liberal arts degree with a focus on English and Journalism. She was also fluent in French, she loved writing short stories even when her health began to fail her, she had a strong mind even though her health was failing. Lorry worked for National Computer Systems for over ten years, she later went on to work for FAFSA as a financial counselor, then on to Face to Face Communications as a customer service medical terminology and HIPPA regulation representative then moving on to Peckham Corporation as a customer service representative for over five years troubleshooting inquires for Seniors Medicare accounts, provided cooperate training and guidance for Federal Midicare Protocols, receiving a certificate of excellence from Medicare for her expertise in training. Lorry was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Security for over 50 years becoming a member in on December 7, 1975. She was always in contact with her Delta sisters especially Tyna Price, she was also a member of voices of soul, a world wide highly acclaimed Iowa Writers Guild Workshop. Lorry loved dancing, traveling, shopping, family but most especially spending time with her husband. even though Lorry and Dan had no children they were privileged to raise two nephews Ernest (Wayne) and Keylynn (Mr. Rogers), was it easy "no", but Dan and Lorry loved them as their own and the boys loved them back. The boys affectionately called them "Uncle Pops" and "Auntie Mom" (Angel), they both grew into wonderful young men. Lorry was very proud of them both. Lorry leaves to cherish with loving memories her husband and life mate of forty-four years Dan Shaw of the home; nephews/sons Earnest Triveets Jr. and Keylynn Rogers; aunt Judy Garnett; uncle Isaiah "Zeke" Curry (Velma); sister in law Deborah Livingston; brother in law Samuel Pope; nieces and nephews Kimberly McDaniel, Kellye Golston-Smith(Gregory), Kindra Turner (Norris), Shaun Hill (Malika); great nieces and nephews Keeisha Pope, Neeisha Franklin, Debora White, Killi Richards, Joykal Hall, Laila Stone-Hill, Bella Stone-Hill,and 17 great great nieces and nephews; cousins Steven Garnett(Kimberly), Cynthia Curry, Justy Garnett, Khirsti Garnett, Jaeden Curry-Carpenter, Eric Gaiggs a host of relatives and friends Patti Smith, Pam Crittendon-Johnson, Niki Lockridge, Sanbonita Jefferson, Lynda Delnodar and Bert. Funeral service held Saturday, December 20, 2025 visitation held from 12:30 PM -1:30 PM with funeral service at 1:30 PM at the Greater Faith MBC 5734 Prospect Ave., KCMO. With interment at Forest Hill Cemetery,
