Lossie Lynette Bowdre, born on September 12, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky, entered eternity on October 21, 2024, in Clarksville, Indiana. She will be remembered for her radiant spirit and unwavering faith, qualities that inspired all who knew her.
Lossie dedication to her family was a cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her loving sons, Robert Bowdre, Raymond Elbert Bowdre, Sr., Samuel Bowdre, David Bowdre, and Daniel Bowdre, along with her beloved daughter, Faye Bowdre. She took immense joy in her grandchildren-Eric, Raymond Jr., Alyssa, Isaia, Alexis, David Jr., Olivia, Adam, Mia, Davion, Kayla, Danika, and Noah-and her great-grandchildren, including Manny, Camden, Adonis, Adahlia, Helen, and Julian, who brought her endless happiness. Lossie cherished the close relationships she built with her children and relatives, extending her love to her brothers, Ronnie Shelton, Glen Shelton, and Cedric Shelton, as well as her sisters, Jenette Shelton, Shavonda Shelton, and Ruby Shelton, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A woman of many talents, Lossie had a gift for music that shone brightly through her skill as an organist and vocalist. She found joy in arts and crafts, expressing her creativity in ways that touched the hearts of those around her. Her connection with nature and passion for gardening allowed her to find solace in the simple beauties of life, while watching movies became a cherished pastime that she often shared with family.
Lossie was a proud graduate of Shawnee High School in Louisville, Kentucky, and dedicated many years to her career at Philip Morris before her well-deserved retirement. Throughout her life, she exemplified a strong faith which served as a guiding light for her family and friends. The memories of her supportive and loving nature will be cherished forever.
She joins in rest her late husband, Robert L. Bowdre; her parents, Elbert Jr. and Willa Mae Stott; her biological mother, Jean Shelton; and her daughter-in-law, Gail Bowdre, who together with countless others await her in peace.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150, on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. An additional visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Family would like to welcome everyone back after the graveside service to Living Waters Church (3113 Hale Ave., Louisville, Kentucky).
As we gather to honor Lossie Lynette Bowdre, we celebrate a life filled with love, talent, and a legacy of faith that will endure through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
