It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louis "Louie" Ojeda, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, great grand-father and friend. After 96 years, Louie went home to be with our Lord and savior, and to be reunited with his beloved "Bea" on September 16, 2023. Born June 27, 1927 in Salamanca, Mexico, he lived a long and humble life, filling ours with immeasurable love and a lifetime of memories.

In 1929, Louie came to the United States with his parents Pedro & Sabina and sister Josie. He married the love of his life, Mary Beatrice Ojeda on April 14, 1958. For 17 years Louie worked for the C&S Railway as a fireman/hostler on locomotive steam engines, and was a baseball player for MAC (The Mexican Athletic Club). After steam engines became obsolete, Louie went on to be an auto-mechanic for the remainder of his career and raised 3 children with Bea by his side. Throughout his life he was always in his garage building things; whether it be bird houses, planter boxes, windmills, or helping the grandkids with school projects. He was very talented with his hands and wood working, a hobby that always kept him busy. Louie prided himself in having a beautiful yard, with green grass and beautiful flowers. He thoroughly enjoyed sitting in his lawn chair and hand watering his lawn, a hobby he did just days before his passing.

While his generosity and selflessness were apparent, he truly possessed an unwavering commitment to his family, lending a hand, shoulder, or ear wherever it was needed most. Starting from the oldest grandchild to the youngest; Louie never missed a day picking up one (or all) of the girls from school, and never hesitated to give all of himself to his family; never saying no, and always being present for whoever needed him. Our sweet Grandpa attended every single sporting event, baptism, communion, family dinner, holiday get-together, or party. Whatever the occasion, he was present. He was the one constant in all of our lives, always making being present his priority. Louie truly cherished his roles as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He radiated love, commitment, and loyalty. He was a faithful man of God, attending church every Sunday with his oldest son, Richard.

Bea was the love of his life, whose passing in 2005 left him heartbroken. Grandma Bea & Grandpa Louie would always host the most elaborate Christmas lights display, and have the entire family together on Christmas Eve. After Bea's passing, putting his own sorrow aside, he continued with the tradition of having the entire family together at his house; a gesture he surely carried on for Bea and for his family. His dedication to family was his driving force to continue on for 18 more years after Bea's passing.

Louie will be remembered not only for his selflessness but also for the profound impact he had on everyone he encountered. His gentle demeanor resonated deeply with anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, yet he was stubborn as a bull! He possessed a rare ability to sympathize without having to say a word, connect, and inspire, effortlessly leaving a lasting impression on our hearts.

Louie is survived by his sons, Richard & Steven. Siblings; Jimmy, Paul, & Rachel. Granddaughters; Krista, Ciarra, Rhiannon, Taylor, Desirae, Jordyn, Peyton. Grandsons; David, Derek, & Lincoln. Great-granddaughter, Sophia. Daughters-in-law; Monique, Lisa, & Lavelle.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro & Sabina Ojeda. First wife, Helen Ojeda. Wife, Mary "Bea" Ojeda. Siblings; Robert, Josephine & Ramona. Son, Anthony Ojeda. Grandson, Isaac Ojeda. Great-grandson, Silas Ojeda.

Though his physical presence may no longer grace our lives, we know that his spirit will forever live on in our memories.  We will share those stories of his remarkable life, for years to come. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary soul, let us carry forward the lessons he taught us about family, love, loyalty and being present.

In honor of Louie's remarkable 96 years of life, we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind. May his life continue to inspire all those that he touched, and may his acts of kindness echo through the ages. Louie, you have fulfilled your role here, taking care of all of us, and you have taught us well. Now, rest peacefully alongside our loved ones.

A catholic service will be Friday at 11 am, September 22, 2023 at St. Mary's Cathedral, with a reception to follow. Details provided at the service. We invite all who knew and loved Louie to join us in celebrating his life.
