Louis A. Benevento, Jr., 68, of Dumont, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2025.
Louis was born in Weehawken, NJ in 1957 to Louis A. Benevento, Sr. (deceased) and Caryle C. Benevento (deceased). He attended public school in Dumont and was a member of the DHS Class of 1975. After graduation, he followed in his father's footsteps, pursuing a career in the beauty salon industry for nearly 50 years. Beginning as a salon equipment installer with Curcio & Company in Jersey City, he expanded into salon design after moving to New Hampshire in 1980 at CB Sullivan Company. Upon moving back to NJ, he continued his designer and consultant career at Salon Interiors in Hackensack before working for Schoeneman Supply/Sally Beauty Holdings. Most recently, he operated his own independent service business, Shear Restoration Inc. Louis was very proud of his personal training from the founder of the National Scissor Sharpening Guild where he learned the art of sharpening and restoring scissors..
Louis is survived by his brother, Mark Benevento (Andrea); his sister, Karen DeMarco (Carmine); and nephews and nieces Victoria Benevento (Alex), Mark Benevento, Jr., Matthew DeMarco, Nicole DeMarco, and Paul DeMarco.
Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 21st from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a 12:15 PM service, at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont. Louis was very proud of his sister's establishment of a hunger-relief charity that helps feed thousands of children and adults in need. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Louis's memory to The Food Brigade, online at www.FoodBrigade.org/donate or by check to The Food Brigade Inc., P.O.
