Louis Charles Duprey, 70, of Rutland, Vermont died in his home on October 5, 2025. He will be greatly missed by many.
He was born April 7, 1955, in Rutland, the son of Joseph A. and Virginia M. (Bissitte) Duprey.
Louis attended Rutland City schools where he met and then married Carol E. (Brown) Duprey. Louis worked at Carris Reels for forty-three years, from where he retired.
Louis was a loving father and grandfather. He spent many of his years as a hobbyist enjoying building model aircraft and playing guitar in his free time. He greatly enjoyed riding his motorcycle and he spent many years snowmobiling and hunting. He dedicated his free time to building and renovating houses. In his later years, he was dedicated to caregiving as a foster parent.
Survivors include his former wife, Carol E. (Brown) Duprey of Rutland; two daughters, Carrianne M. (Duprey) Knight of Perkinsville and Cynthia L. Duprey of Rutland; a son-in-law, James H. Knight of Perkinsville; three grandchildren; three brothers, Nicholas J. Duprey of Rutland, Gary T. Duprey of Rutland, Anthony W. Duprey of Florida; two sisters, Mary Ellen Ketcham of Sudbury, Rosanna M. Duprey of Rutland; and many sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, extended family, and close friends.
Louis is predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Joseph A. Duprey of Wallingford.
Friends and family may call at the Aldous Funeral Home in Rutland on Sunday, October 12, from 12-2 pm.
The funeral will be held graveside on Monday, October 13, at 2 pm at the East Clarendon Cemetery.
