Louis Alfred Guswiler, age 91, of Southfield, Michigan, went to the Lord on June 7th, 2025, after a short battle with bone cancer. He was born on October 19, 1933, to parents Eugene and Kathleen Guswiler. Dear brother to Eugene Francis Guswiler and dear brother-in-law to Sharon Wright Guswiler. Lou is the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, his brother Thomas James Guswiler, and sister-in-law Annette Marie Guswiler.
Lou was a proud graduate of De La Salle High School and the University of Detroit. Lou also served in the U.S. Army. He spent many years serving the community of southeastern Michigan as a counselor and administrator at the Michigan Employment Security Commission.
After retirement, Lou tried his hand at several hobbies including photography and painting. Lou was a devout Catholic and enjoyed his time with "the breakfast bunch" after daily Mass. Lou spent many years volunteering at Sunrise Senior Living in Southfield. Lou will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his love of University of Michigan football, and his devotion to the Catholic faith.
Lou will lie in state on Friday, June 13th, 2025, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Transfiguration, 25225 Code Road, Southfield, MI 48033, Fr. Jeff Scheeler presiding.
Lou will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery (18201 Clinton River Rd., Clinton Twp., MI 48038) on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., Fr. Ronald De'Hondt presiding.
