It is with great sadness our beloved Father Louis C. Hernandez Jr. (77) of Santa Paula, California passed away on August 13, 2023. His happy earthly life was abruptly taken in a  fatal car accident.

Louis was born in Santa Paula to Louis Sr.  and Lucy Hernandez on November 13, 1945. He was a lifelong resident of Santa Paula. During his youth he raised farm animals along with his family.  Then, he met his high school sweetheart Ann and they fell in love.  Soon after, they  had their first child. Louis embraced his fatherhood and so he began his working career in construction as a proud laborer for local 585 in Ventura. He was a proud union member for 46 years and enjoyed working and being around his union brothers and any new friends he met along the way.

Louis’ goal and mission was to work hard to support his family.  Supporting and keeping his children together was most important to him.  He taught his children life survival skills, and  coached them in sports.

In between hard work and raising his children
Louis enjoyed his leisure time socializing with family and friends.  He welcomed new friends young and old. He always gave advice about life issues and he liked to be humorous. He loved  music and enjoyed singing and playing musical instruments with his cousins and uncles:  Ruben, Nacho, Chalo, and Simon. He liked  traveling, hunting, and fishing.

He also spent his leisure time at the casinos.  He rarely turned down the opportunity to go. The casinos were his favorite playground for entertainment. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Louis was a caring person, he took care of his 95-year-old mother who lived with him. He also opened the doors to his home for his family members who needed a temporary place to live.   He always kept close contact with his adult children. He would check on them to ensure everyone was well.  Family was important to him.

Louis is survived by: mother Lucy, six children Louie, Joann, Rudy (Paula), Darlene (Miguel), Ramona (Jerry) and Patricia (Betin), 23 grand children, 25 great grandchildren with 2 on the way). He is also survived by 6 siblings. He is preceded in death by: father Louis, son Ruben, grandson Joseph and daughter-in-law Leticia.

Louis was a pillar of strength to his children and dearly loved by all his family members. He will be dearly missed.

The family will host memorial services on 8/30 and 8/31.  Please join us as we celebrate his life, to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes.
