Mr. Louis Gray Senter, age 83 of the Pine Ridge community, passed away peacefully Wednesday night January 15, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 6, 1941, in Surry County to the late Samuel Spurgeon Senter and Minnie Pearl Lowery Senter. He was a loving and caring husband, daddy, Papa, and friend. He loved riding his bicycle, attending Blues Grove Baptist Church, and going to the gym where you would often find him bragging on how many pull ups he could do. Mr. Senter is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Brenda Gail Stone Senter; his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Samson Southern; son, Steven Senter; seven grandchildren, Dusty and Megan Senter, Cameron and Alex Southern, Chase Senter, Kelli Senter, Michael Senter, Matthew Senter, and Genesis Senter; several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and his drag racing family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Senter was preceded in death by a son, Gray Lee Senter; sisters, Doris Senter Gentry and Arlene Senter Combs; and a brother, Aldene Senter. Funeral services will be held Monday January 20, 2025, at 2:00pm in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Rev. Scott Coleson and Rev. Travis Sechrist officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 – 2:00pm at Moody’s. The burial will take place in the Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The Senter family would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for all of the love and care given to Louis and the family. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be given to the donor’s choice. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Senter family.
