It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louis Joseph Simon, who left us peacefully on July 15, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on September 27, 1929, in Kaplan, LA, Louis lived a rich and vibrant life in Lake Arthur, LA. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and his family meant the world to him.
Louis proudly served in the Air Force, enlisting in 1946 and achieving the rank of PFO. After his service, he found his calling as a truck driver in the oil and gas industry, where he made a lasting impact. Louis was known not just for his tireless work ethic but also for his love of good times, often spent playing pool, dominos, cards, and eating crawfish with friends and family. He had a particular knack for collecting cans, turning it into a hobby that brought him joy.
Louis is survived by his beloved daughters: Judy Simon, Pat (JW) Broussard, Brenda "Porkchop" Simon, and Katherine (Patrick) Dupuis. He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Johnny (Jill) LaVergne, Heather (Kenny) Doucet, Shawntele Simon, Alison Dupuis, and Aaron (Virginia) Dupuis, along with 9 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren with one on the way.
A rosary will be held at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur on July 18, 2025, at 2:30 PM, following a public viewing starting at 9:00 AM. A funeral service will take place at 3:00 PM in the Miguez Funeral Home chapel with Deacon Mike Tramel officiating. Louis will be laid to rest at Andrus Cove Cemetery.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Estella Cormier Simon; his spouse of 60 years Dorothy Simon; grandchildren, Jered Hoffpauir, and Ryan LaVergne; and his siblings, Mildred Page, Mamie Mier, and Beatrice Mier.
Pallbearers will be Johnny LaVergne, Tyler Newsom, Schuylor Guidry, Tristan Doucet, Gavin Price and Cole Hoffpauir.
