Louis Vannostrand Obituary

Louis Leonard "Lou" Vannostrand, a lifelong resident of the Hampton Roads area, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 30, 1961, in Virginia, Lou was 63 years old at the time of his passing.
Though Lou never held a formal job, he remained a beloved figure among those who knew him. He spent his entire life in Hampton Roads, where he shared many cherished moments with his family and friends. Known for his culinary skills, Lou's cooking left an indelible mark on many hearts and stomachs. His brother, Calvin, fondly remembers proclaiming, "He's one hell of a cook!"-though Lou often required a bit of assistance when it came to making accurate measurements.
Lou was not one for sports, but he found joy in the simple pleasure of watching football games with his brother. With a twinkle in his eye and a playful spirit, Lou would confidently predict, "The ones in white are gonna win," regardless of the teams on the field.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Roy Vannostrand, Sr., and Dorothy Vannostrand (nee Johnson), as well as his two sisters. Lou's memory will be forever cherished by his surviving family: his older brother, Calvin Roy Vannostrand, Jr., and his Brother-in-law, Brooks.
At this time, no services are scheduled, but the family hopes to eventually lay Lou to rest alongside his mother at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia. Lou will be dearly missed, but his warmth, humor, and culinary legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial donations be made in hopes to alleviate the financial burden Lou leaves behind. Donations can be made by clicking this link.
