Mother Louise Anderson Bryant, laid her crown at the Lord's feet on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the age of 102. Born on March 27, 1923, in Waldo, Florida, Louise was a cherished daughter of Allie Anderson and James Anderson, who instilled in her the values of love, faith, and community that she carried throughout her life.
Throughout her life, Louise worked diligently at the King Edward Cigar Factory, contributing to her community and family with her unwavering work ethic. She was an active member of the Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church, where she participated in District 9 and sang joyfully in the Mass Choir. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and fostering her deep connections with others.
Louise was known for her kindness, generosity, and remarkable spirit. She embraced life fully, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she shared her love and wisdom with each generation, instilling the importance of family bonds and community support.
Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifford Bryant, and her parents, Allie and James Anderson. She also mourned the loss of her dear sister-in-law, Emma Lee Anderson, son-in-law, Walter Overstreet, Sr., nephew, Jerome Anderson, and niece, Bettye Streeter. They were a significant part of her life, and their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
Louise is survived by her devoted daughters, Gwendolyn Overstreet, Laura Bryant, and Louise Johnson. She was a proud grandmother to Eureka Bryant, Tracy Bryant, Clifford Overstreet (Bernadette), and Travis Overstreet (Ginger), each of whom brought her immense joy. Louise's legacy continues with her great-grandchildren, including Dominique Johnson (Kierra), Keshana Strougther, Garrett Williams (Yamani), Briyana Strougther, Travis Overstreet Jr., Dre'Ona Harrell, Olivia Overstreet, Carmen Overstreet, Taylon Potts, Tatiana Overstreet, Nova Overstreet, La'Tasha Turner (John), Amber Overstreet, and Walter Overstreet III. Her great-great-grandchildren, Malia Johnson, Gionni Williams, Treazure Thomas, Destiny Patterson, Miracle Turner, Faith Turner, and Kane Overstreet, will also carry her spirit forward.
In addition to her immediate family, Louise leaves behind a host of beloved nephews, including James Anderson Jr., Laveranues Coles, Sr., and Donald Brooks; nieces, including Mary Banks (Virgil), Annie Peterson, Brenda McGee, Dorothy Singleton, Geraldine Perry, Carolyn Thames, Corine Moore, Vanessa Young, Linda Williams, Saretta Daniels, and Joyce Hansan; and children she embraced as her own, Robert Holmes (Jackie), BarbraAnn Higgins, and Vicki Lynn Johnson. Her special neighbor, Frances Jones, along with special names in her life, including Johnnel Harris, Janice Harris, Frank Overstreet, and Marine Shepherd, also mourn her passing. Additionally, she leaves behind special cousins Lionnel Gordon (Josephine) and Bettye Robinson, among many other loving family members and friends.
As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. May Mother Louise Anderson Bryant rest in eternal peace, forever remembered in the hearts of those she touched.
