Mary Louise Kyzer McBride, 99, a longtime resident of Pacolet, entered into the presence of her Heavenly Father on Tuesday evening, December 30, 2025, at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC. Louise was born December 26, 1926, in Spartanburg County, a daughter of the late Eliza Annie Turner Kyzer and Lommie Shafter Kyzer. She was married to the love of her life, Joe Thompson McBride, for 67 years, until his passing in August of 2015.

As a faithful pillar of Pacolet United Methodist Church, giving her heart and hands to its life for many years, she shaped young lives through a decade of Sunday school teaching, led with grace as president of the women’s circle, and lifted worship through her voice in the choir. Alongside Joe, she carried that same spirit of service up and down the East Coast, ministering to others through Lay Witness Missions for more than twenty years.

She was a graduate of Spartanburg Junior College. In 1966, she was a founding member and vice president of McBride ServiceMaster. She was a pioneer in organic gardening and, along with her husband, founded Organic Acres in Pacolet, SC.

Louise embraced the sacred call to nurture souls, and in that tender ministry her heart found boundless joy. With graceful hands, she wove blossoms into living art, petals whispering secrets of beauty under her touch. Her kitchen became an alchemy of flavors—dishes crafted with mastery, savored and cherished by all who gathered. Yet another quiet dance lived within her: the gentle ritual of bestowing Avon treasures to family and friends.

Surviving are her daughters, Judith Ann McBride of Pacolet and Alice M. Trammell Arráez (Andrés) of Johns Creek, GA; her son, George B. McBride Sr. (Gwendolyn) of Spartanburg; her seven grandchildren, Judith Leigh Burnett (Alex), Thomas Joe Collins, Stacy Marie Trammell Walker (Edgar), Cliff Everett Trammell, George B. McBride Jr., Mary Garan Lemarr (Eddie), and Gina Louise Parrish (Brandon); her eight great-grandchildren, Candice Nicole Bonner, Amber Leigh Bonner, Ariana Grace Walker, Caleb Phineas Walker, Josiah Thompson Lemarr, Cora Mae Lemarr, Remy William Parrish, and Wilder Brandon Parrish; and her two great-great-grandsons, Taven Uriah Pesaro and Tobias Ryker Horne.

Along with her husband and her parents, Louise was predeceased by her five brothers, William Shafter Kyzer, David Albert Kyzer, Carl Benjamin Kyzer, Henry Patrick Kyzer, and Paul Asbury Kyzer.

A Memorial Homegoing Celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026, at Free Chapel, 500 Evangel Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301, conducted by Pastor Javon Ruff and Pastor Grover Timms. The family will receive friends following the Homegoing Celebration at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pacolet Methodist Cemetery Trust, c/o SC United Methodist Foundation, P.O. Box 5087, Columbia, SC 29250, or online at www.scumf.org/give by searching Pacolet United Methodist Cemetery Endowment Fund.
