Louise Muir

1956 - 2024

Augusta, GA – On Thursday, June 20, 2024, the laughter of Louise Muir, 67, echoed one last time, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Louise was the beloved wife of Gary Muir for nearly 50 years, proudly wearing her "bling ring" and sharing their joy with everyone.

Born in Queens, New York, Louise found her heart in Augusta, where she cherished 49 wonderful years. A steadfast member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, Louise's deep Christian faith took off with her as a hippie Jesus freak in the 70's. She shared her faith with those around her through her unwavering kindness and genuine love for everyone. Louise's music filled our lives as she played guitar, piano, and sang with infectious happiness. She had a deep love for all her dogs over the years; Charlie and Jack, are still looking for her in the house.

Her creative spirit flourished through her passion for traveling, concerts, musicals, camping, painting, sewing, quilting, and baking delicious cakes and iconic treats for those she loved and beating dad at Scrabble. She was known for her generous spirit, adopting many into her fold and delighting in sharing meals with all. She was a force of kindness and the "glue" of the family, ensuring many special, lasting memories.

As a nanny for many years, she took on the role of bonus grandma, although they called her "Weezie". Her heart will forever be with James, Georgia, Cy, and Viv. As a very young child, James once called her "The best woman he had ever met."

Louise always had a love for Canada from a young age due to her extended family who live in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Vancouver Island and the many summers she spent with them. She started traveling at a young age and continued to travel as frequently as was feasible. She missed a recent trip due to her illness and was already planning a girls' trip.

Above all, Louise treasured her nearly 50-year marriage, her children, and the grandchildren who brought her boundless joy. Her excitement for the imminent arrival of a great-grandchild in July added another layer of happiness to her life. She equally loved all of her children and grandchildren, at least that's what she said, but had a special fondness for her fellow red headed grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving husband Gary; daughters Stephanie Crowther (Thomas) and Jenny Davis (Jesse); sons Joseph Muir and Peter Muir; grandchildren Pierre LeFort, James LeFort, Luke LeFort, Sophie Crowther, Lilly Davis; her beloved niece (adopted daughter) Nona Muir; andGodchildren; Daniel Brown and Kerrie Edmondson.

A rosary followed by a wake will be held on Monday, June 24th at 6:00-8:00 pm at St. Marys on the Hill Catholic Church. A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, officiated by Father Malachy. Interment will immediately follow in St. Mary's columbarium. Following the service, there will be a reception in the parish hall where the family will receive guests.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Harvest Food Bank, reflecting Louise's passion for nourishing others.
