Louise Sager Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 14, 2025.
Louise Guisinger Sager, age 85 of Fayetteville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 8, 2025. She was born on February 5, 1940 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Paul and Mabel Guisinger. Miraculously beginning life weighing less than three pounds, Louise's story was a testament to God's plan, evident in the path He chose for her. A lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church, she was baptized, married, and attended Sunday school there from childhood through adulthood. She was an active member of the Asbury Sunday School Class where she developed many deep and lasting friendships. Louise was a lifetime resident of Fayetteville and took pride in her family's multigenerational heritage including the historic Guisinger Music House on the Fayetteville Square, founded by her grandfather in 1905. She graduated from Fayetteville High School and attended the University of Arkansas where she was a member of the Epsilon chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha. She began her teaching career after earning her bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas. She met the love of her life, Tom Sager, in a Sunday School class at Central United Methodist Church. They married in 1963 and made their home in Fayetteville where they raised two daughters, both of whom became teachers. Louise found her greatest joy in having a home full of family. Anyone who knew her knew she adored her husband, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and eventually a great-granddaughter-all of whom lovingly called her "Nana." Tom and Louise celebrated 41 years of marriage before his passing in 2004. Louise found her true calling as a 3rd grade teacher in Room 9 at Root Elementary School where she taught for over forty years. The classroom was her place of ministry and she loved each of her students dearly. She even had the privilege of teaching the children of former students, a joy that brought her great fulfillment. Her dedication to teaching was matched by her close friendships with many fellow educators which continued well into her retirement. After retiring, Louise remained active in her community as a member of P.E.O. Chapter K and Altrusa, and as a volunteer at Circle of Life Hospice. She enjoyed time with her Bunco Gal Pals and Lunch Bunch Ladies as often as possible. One of her greatest pleasures was sitting in one of the many rocking chairs on her front porch, especially when all chairs were filled with family and friends. She loved watching deer and birds from her perch on her porch, a cup of coffee or glass of iced tea in hand. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Tom Sager, and her brothers, Paul Guisinger Jr. and Jimmy Guisinger. She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Delaney and her husband, Kevin, of Sugar Land, Texas, and Sheri Zimmerman and her husband, Rob, of Rogers, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Abby Delaney, Ryan Delaney and his wife, Abby, Madison Cantrell, Sarah-Kathryn Cantrell, Aiden Zimmerman, and Liam Zimmerman; and one great-granddaughter, Gwennie Delaney. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Moore's Chapel, with burial to follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville. Louise's favorite colors were cobalt blue and cardinal red. Feel free to honor her by wearing a splash of one of these colors. Memorial contributions may be made to Breakthrough T1D at www.breakthrought1d.org or to Circle of Life Hospice at www.circleoflifecare.org. For those unable to attend in person, a Celebration of Life service will be available to watch via livestream at: https://www.bernafuneralhomes.com/obituaries/louise-sager-2/posts/52655051 To place an online tribute, please visit www.bernafuneralhomes.com.
