Loveta Faye Lewis
Loveta Faye (Newby) Lewis, age 94, of Richland Springs went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 26, 2024.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Richland Springs, Texas with a visitation prior to the service at 10:00 am. Brother Alvino Valdez, associate pastor of San Saba First Baptist Church will officiate.Music will be under the direction of Rodney and Djuana Payton. Interment will follow at the Richland Springs Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home,
San Saba, Texas.
Loveta Faye was born April 15, 1929, the first-born child of Archie & Versie (Myers) Newby of Richland Springs. She graduated from Richland Springs High School and attended Howard Payne University.
She married Robert H. Lewis on March 31, 1949, in Richland Springs, Texas. Together they raised two children and were blessed to be happily married for 71 years before being parted by her husband's death in October 2020.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Richland Springs, Texas. She served in many capacities including Wednesday night training union, Vacation Bible Schools and Girls in Action and hospitality committees.
She was the social correspondent for the Brownwood Bulletin and the San Saba News and Star for many years.
She worked in the Richland Springs School District for 16 years, serving in various positions. Her passion was teaching special education students. She retired from the school district in May 1994.
In her retirement, she loved tending her flowers and keeping her hummingbird feeders full.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son Darwin Lewis of
San Saba, Texas; her daughter Melody Lewis of
Owasso, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Mark Lewis of
Ocala, Florida and Robert Rowell of
Owasso, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren, Chase Daniel Lewis, Peyton Faye Lewis, and Blake Darwin Lewis all of
Ocala, Florida; two nephews, Mike Nolen and wife Karen of Hewitt, Texas, Steve Nolen of Brownwood, Texas; one niece, Patty Bannister of Brownwood, Texas; three great nephews, Christoper Nolen and Jeffrey Nolen of Hewitt, Texas and James Nolen of Brownwood, Texas; two great nieces, Melissa Nolen of Hewitt, Texas and Micah Bannister Lampson and husband Blake of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; and one great-great niece, Addison Lynn Lampson of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
Loveta Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Lewis; her parents, Archie and Versie Newby of Richland Springs; her five-year-old brother Harold Dwayn Newby, her brother Leroy Newby of
Fort Worth, Texas, her sister Veneta Joyce Nolen of Brownwood, Texas; and her niece Deborah Lynn Newby of
Fort Worth, Texas.
Pall bearers will include Robert Rowell, Chase Lewis, Larry Crump, Cubby Pearce, Dale McKinnerney, and Ricky McKinnerney.
