Lowell W. Detlor, age 96, of Hancock, passed away peacefully Monday October 9, 2023 at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital.
He was born February 2, 1927 in Plainfield, WI to Glenn and Eva (Sawyer) Detlor. He attended Prairie Center School and graduated from Plainfield High School. After high school he attended and graduated from the UW Madison Farm Short Course. He married Lauretta Wallner on August 23, 1952. Together they farmed for 71 years and had six children. Lowell was a true farmer; he was raised on a farm and farmed all his life. They co-hosted the Farm Progress Days in 1990, attended by 120,000 people.
He is survived by his children, Linda Detlor, Lois (Jon) Van Loenen, Gordon (Amy) Detlor, Gary (Mary) Detlor and Galen (Kelly) Detlor, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sister: Mary Gardner; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Ingersoll and Carol Klabunde. He is further survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Glenn and several brothers and sisters in law.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
God created a caretaker, a farmer, he was a strong, caring man who had a rich life as a farmer.
