Luana Duke Casper, age 86, passed away peacefully in her home on December 26, 2025.
Luana was born on December 31, 1938, to Merrill and Lois Hicken Duke. She married her lifelong love, Darwin “Sid” Casper, on June 22, 1957, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo Utah Temple.
Throughout her life, Luana worked several fun and interesting jobs, including as a switchboard operator for the phone company, in a sewing factory, and as a waitress. It was while working as a waitress that she met Sid, truly her best tip ever. Eventually, Luana opened a daycare in her home, where she lovingly cared for many lucky children who adored her just as much as she adored them.
Luana had a deep love for the great outdoors and cherished time spent camping, picnicking, and traveling with Sid and their beloved dog Molly, wherever a little backroad would take them. She also found joy in creative pursuits such as crocheting and knitting. One of her greatest joys was crocheting baby blankets for her grandchildren, treasured gifts that reflected her love and devotion to family.
Luana loved when she was able to attend her grandchildren’s events and was always their biggest supporter. She was also a passionate Utah Jazz fan and recently attended a game, an experience she truly treasured.
Above all, Luana was devoted to her family and proudly embraced the titles of Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and Great-Great-Grandma. She was loving, patient, kind, strong, compassionate, and encouraging, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
Luana was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a granddaughter.
She is survived by her children: Bruce (Melinda) Casper, Duke (Barbara) Casper, Susan (Dave) Adams, Mary (Ed) Salas, Vickie (Keith) Ulland, Brenda Casper, and Stephanie Stika; her brothers Dale, Warren, and Brent Duke; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
