In Loving Memory of Luca Blue Cagle
March 26, 2022 - January 1, 2023
Our heart warrior, sweet Luca Blue, beloved infant son of Ashley and Christopher Cagle, passed away peacefully in the arms of his parents on January 1, 2023. He is predeceased by his sister, Finleigh Skye Cagle, survived by loving parents, Ashley and Christopher Cagle of
Greenville, North Carolina, big brothers, Ezra Cagle, and Grayson Cagle of
Greenville, North Carolina, maternal grandparents, Kevin and Michele Mignosa of
Winterville, North Carolina, and paternal grandparents, Brenda and Gregory Cagle of
Farmville, Virginia, and many other relatives.
Luca was born with a congenital heart disease called pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum. Luca spent his life at Duke Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center in Durham North Carolina. Though he lived his 9 months in the hospital, he was never not loved or cared for. His parents were by his bedside almost every day, and when they couldn't be there, family would be. Luca is the true definition of a fighter. He went through more things in his nine months than most adults do throughout their entire lives, and he never gave up. Luca did things on his own time and became known as the little sloth baby; he liked things slow and steady. Though his spirit animal is a sloth, he had the true heart of a warrior. Luca had the purest soul and was always happy despite everything he had been through. He had an infectious smile and big expressive eyes with beautiful long eye lashes that would just melt your heart. Luca had such a big personality and you couldn't help but fall in love with him. Luca enjoyed so much in life; he loved music, it was always playing in his room, and he was never without his lovey or blankets. Though Luca's time on this earth was short he affected the lives of so many people and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the Doctors, Nurses, and staff of the Duke PCICU & Step down unit for the incredible care they gave Luca. You became our family for the last 9 months and we are truly thankful that these 9 months were possible because of your dedication and care.
In lieu of flowers and cards the family asks that you make a donation to the Duke Pediatric & Congenital Heart Center or the Ronald McDonald House of Durham & Wake in memory of Luca Blue Cagle.
A Private graveside service will be held the morning of Saturday January 7, 2023. The family will have Family & Friends of Luca for a Memorial at the Farmville Presbyterian Church (4138 Grimmersburg St, Farmville, NC 27828) at 3:30 in afternoon on January 7, 2023. The only request we have is that you don't wear black. We would like for you to wear bright colors or a sloth to celebrate the life of our sweet Luca Blue!
