Rockaway: Lucia (Lucy) F. Albensi Ruiz, beloved mother and wife, passed away at home on October 22, 2021, surrounded by her family. Lucy was born in June 1930 in Rockaway Township, NJ to the late Benedetto and Immaculata Albensi.
Lucy worked at Picatinny Arsenal and was a true patriot. She spent many years helping her husband run Victor Ruiz & Sons. She dedicated her life to her family and instilled kindness, compassion and an empathetic way of life unto her children. Her interest included traveling, reading and crocheting. Lucy worked with her children and sewed masks for healthcare workers during the Covid Pandemic.
Lucy retired to Florida with her husband John for over forty years. She volunteered for many organizations, including the Blind Association, Animal Haven and Daystar. She was also a member of "The Rosary Society" and was a Eucharistic Minister.
Predeceased by her husband John in 1997 and her siblings Josephine, Nancy, Joseph, Mary, Benedict, Anthony & Susan as well as her grandson Anthony in 1980.
She returned home in 2017 to be close to her surviving family.
5 Children: MaryAnn (Conrad), Victor (Lori), Susan, John & Katherine (Edward).
Sister: Elsie Hajdics.
9 Grandchildren: Catherine, Rocklyn, John Jon, Victor, Jr., Anthony, Gianni, Sierra, Kyle and Sean
4 Great Grandchildren: Kathleen, Troy, Willow & Colton.
Visitation will be held 4-8pm on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.
A funeral mass will be held 10am on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, 4 Richards Ave., Dover, NJ 07801.
Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Jeffrey Frank Wacks Memorial Fund, PO BOX 6, Convent Station, NJ 07961.
The family requests masks to be worn and social distancing to be practiced.
