It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lucia Frances McConchie, age 96, of Lewes, Delaware, who peacefully passed away at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, DE, on Thursday, December 19, 2024. Born on July 4, 1928, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Minnie (Michele) Trupo. Mrs. McConchie moved to Lewes in 2001, after living for many years in Vienna, Virginia.
Mrs. McConchie was a proud graduate of Victory High School in Clarksburg, WV. During World War II, she worked at Union Station in Washington, D.C., and later at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. as a stenographer in the late 1940s. She married her beloved husband, Robert Earl McConchie, in 1946, and together they raised two daughters, whom she always regarded as her greatest achievement.
As a devoted and faithful Catholic, Mrs. McConchie was a founding member of St. Jude’s the Apostle Church in Lewes, where she was an active participant in the life of the parish. Her faith and family were always at the core of her life. Mrs. McConchie was also an avid Washington Redskins fan and found great joy in hosting family and friends, creating a warm, welcoming home for all.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. McConchie was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Robert Earl McConchie, and by five siblings: Russell Trupo, Marie Lillo, Louis "Zeke" Trupo, Teresa Hines, and Leonard J. "Joe" Trupo.
Mrs. McConchie is survived by her two daughters: Pamela Becker (Ken) of Lewes, DE, and Marla Daddario (Mike) of Gordonville, PA; her grandchildren: Paul Becker of Rehoboth, DE, Katie Poinen (Jean Paul) of Nantes, France, Anna Daddario of West Chester, PA, and Thomas Daddario of Cambridge, MD; and her great-grandchildren: Joshua Poinen and Cecilia Lucia Poinen. She is also survived by countless dear friends at the Country Rest Home, whom she considered family.
Mrs. McConchie's presence in the lives of her loved ones will be deeply missed. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her nurturing spirit, and the love she gave so freely to all. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know and love her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Jude’s the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro, DE 19939.

Lucia was so kind and sweet. She would greet everyone with the same question, "Are you Italian?" I will truly miss her smile. Love Kim from the country rest home
