Lucie Delores Giersch (Hains), 90, passed away peacefully in her home on January 21st 2025. Lucie was born on October 28, 1934 in Quebec City, Canada to Edmond and Alice Hains.
She met the love of her life, George Giersch at a dance hall in Quebec City. George was serving in the United States Navy. They were married on November 28, 1964. Together, they were blessed with one daughter (Janet Marx) and two sons (Michael and Christopher).
Lucie loved being with her family and celebrating any special day or event. She enjoyed attending her children's sporting events, traveling to Canada to visit her family, spending time with her three grandchildren (Ryley, Jordan, and Adam), and putting together puzzles. Lucie was also a devout Catholic, attending Mass on a regular basis.
Lucie is survived by her loving husband (George), her son-in-law and daughter (Donald and Janet Marx), her son (Michael), and her son and daughter-in-law (Christopher and Suzanne). She is also survived by her siblings Fernand Hains, Remi Hains, Pierre Hains, Therese Tobak (Hains), and Marc Hains.
Lucie was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond Hains and Alice Hains; brother Jacques Hains; sister Colette Kirouac (Hains); and sister Martha Tremblay (Hains).
A funeral mass will be held at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church on March 3rd at 10:00 am. Lucie's final resting place will be Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. My deepest sympathy to Lucie´s family and friends. We were neighbors, our children grew up together and have remained friends into adulthood. Lucie was always a kind, thoughtful, generous, lady and will be missed by many. Thoughts and many prayers for all who were fortunate enough to have known this gracious, beautiful lady.
