Lucila Palacio de Mazo, lovingly known as "Queen Mazo," passed away peacefully at the age of
100 on November 1, 2024, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Born on July 8,
1924, in Colombia to Eliseo Palacio and Laura Adarve. Lucila was raised alongside her siblings
Mercedes, Evangelina, Margarita, Francisco, Emilio, Guillermo, and Luis. She relocated to
Bridgeport, Connecticut, where she would leave a lasting legacy of love, laughter, and
compassion.
Lucila was a joyful spirit who found solace in her faith, frequently attending church and
praying for her family. She cherished family reunions, always ready to entertain with jokes and
her warm humor. She also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino and was known for her
generosity and love of going out and doing kind deeds for others. Queen Mazo was a bright,
caring, and funny woman who touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her greatest pride and joy were her family and the 100 beautiful years she lived. Lucila raised
15 children: Jairo Antonio, Maria Beatriz de Socorro, Gilberto Antonio, Nestor Francisco,
Conrado de Jesus, Cruz Nelida, Laura Eugenia, Doris del Socorro, Johnny Alberto, Juan
Guillermo, Mario Ignacio, Fabio Leon, Jorge William, Diana Trinidad, and Edgar Mauricio.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jose Gilberto Mazo Zapata, her daughter
Maria Beatriz de Socorro Mazo Palacio, and her niece Gabriella Mazo Acera.
Lucila was survived by her 14 kids: Jairo Antonio Mazo Palacio, Gilberto Antonio Mazo Palacio,
Nestor Francisco Mazo Palacio, Conrado DeJesus Mazo Palacio, Cruz Nelida Mazo Palacio,
Laura Eugenia Mazo Palacio, Doris Del Socorro Mazo Palacio, Johny Alberto Mazo Palacio,
Juan Guillermo Mazo Palacio, Mario Ignacio Mazo Palacio, Fabio Leon Mazo Palacio, Jorge
William Mazo Palacio, Diana Trinidad Mazo Palacio, Edgar Mauricio Mazo Palacio.

The celebration of Lucila's remarkable life will take place at Community Funeral Chapels, 798
Park Ave, Bridgeport, Connecticut 06605 on November 8,2024 from 9:30AM-11:30AM. A
mass of Christian burial will be held at St.Peter's Church, 695 Colorado Ave. Bridgeport CT,
06605. Interment will follow to Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport CT, 2675 North Ave.
