Lucy Braunschweig, 84, Town of Ashippun, died July 21, 2025, at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau.

Mom was born Lucille Elsie Schultz to Otto J Schultz and Elsie Rohrschneider on June 20, 1941, in Beaver Dam. She grew up on the family farm on Horseshoe Road, south of Horicon and attended the one room school, Rock River School, on St Helena Road. Mom started taking accordion lessons in Hustisford when she was about 7 years old. Mom graduated from Horicon High School in 1959 and Dodge County Teacher's College in 1961. For the next few years, Mom taught in the Town of Brookfield and Neosho Wisconsin. She was a substitute teacher for several schools.

Mom married William H. Braunschweig on December 14, 1963, at St. Stephens Church Horicon.

Mom was involved in several organizations and causes. She was the first woman to be elected to the Dodge County Board of Supervisors. She was on the Dodge County Agriculture and Extension Education Committee and the chair of the Dodge County Commission on Aging, and chair of other district and state county board committees. She was a founding member and officer of Rock River Chapter of Wisconsin Women for Agriculture. She helped get senior apartments and Meals on Wheels for Ashippun. She was a long-time member of the Fireside Homemakers. She testified in Jan 1976 at the Wisconsin State Capitol on behalf of farm wives and improving inheritance taxes when they inherited their family farm. Later mom worked at Shorewest Realty, Black's Flower Shop and was a long time as secretary for St Olaf Lutheran Church, Toland.

Mom loved spending time with family above all things. She also loved nature and hiking with us kids on our farm. She loved Horicon Marsh and feeding hummingbirds. She loved planting flowers and collecting dishes, glass and interesting things. Mom loved to read and learn. Mom loved to travel abroad and in the US. and she went on a mission trip with St Olaf to Nelson House, Manitoba, Canada. She was our family's trip planner extraordinaire. Mom loved holiday traditions and making them special for our family. She enjoyed making us laugh.

Mom is survived by her children: Steve (Beth), Reedsburg, Sue (DuWaine), Cascade, and Sara, Ashippun; grandchildren: Amie (Sean), Bayview, Rebecca (Charlie), Silver Lake, Andrew, Bayview, Craig (Emily), Madison, great grandchild Katarina, nieces: Jan, Sherri, Melissa and Michele and nephews: Dan and Scott, cousin, Karen, West Bend, and her beloved Yorkie, Mayla.

Mom will be reunited in heaven with her loving parents, husband, sister-in-law Joyce Sevde and brother-in- law Edgar Braunschweig and many relatives, neighbors and friends and pets.

The family gives thanks to Clearview Nursing home staff. We also thank Meals on Wheels and neighbors, Steve Sorenson, and John Christenson, who did many things to help mom.

Arrangements are at St Olaf on Monday, July 28. Viewing 11 am to 1 pm and services will be held at St Olaf Lutheran church, Toland.
