Lucille Jean Engrassia

ROCKY MOUNT – Lucille Jean Engrassia, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Born and raised in New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Jean Sousa. She was also preceded in death by her grandsons, Joey Engrassia and Jay Marles; and her brother, Vincent Donald "Don" Sousa.
A woman of great faith and a devout Catholic, Lucille was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and her unwavering spirit of generosity. Lucille had a special place in her heart for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where she often contributed, reflecting her deep commitment to helping those in need. Known for her boundless love and selflessness, she dedicated her life to caring for others, finding her greatest joy in the happiness of her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Her ability to spread warmth and kindness knew no bounds, and she was respected and cherished by all who knew her. A dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and dear friend to many, Lucille will be deeply missed by all.
Lucille is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph Anthony Engrassia, Sr.; her daughter, Cynthia Geralyn "Cindy" Lamberson (Brian); her sons, Joseph Anthony "Joe" Engrassia, Jr. (Patricia) and Anthony Gerard "Tony" Engrassia (Marie); her grandchildren, Brianna Engrassia, D.J. Engrassia, Anthony Engrassia (Kathryn), Jessica Horne (Patrick), Sarah Stancavish, Jason Stancavish, Carl Lamberson, Jacks Lamberson, and Samatha Marles; her great-grandson, Tucker Horne; her sister, Arleen Sousa Mizeski; and several nieces and nephews.
A Service to celebrate Lucille's life will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Reverand Paul Nicholas Cottrill, V.F. officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a Recitation of the Rosary starting at 4:00 PM and Funeral Service at 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Lucille's name to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 328 Hammond Street Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
