Lucille M. Mockus (Peck), 98, a longtime resident of Green Lake, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on March 4th 2024.
Lucille was born on May 3rd 1925, daughter of Alfred and Mary Peck (Calvano). She was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford Senior High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin in 1943, and went on to be a Red Cross Nurse's aide. She married George Mockus on November 27th,1947 and moved to Green Lake, Wisconsin. Lucille and George dedicated over 50 years of their lives to their restaurants, Bel Air Supper Club and Norton’s Marine Dining Room of Green Lake, providing the community with delicious food and special memories until their retirement in 1982 when their sons Peter and George Jr. took over. Lucille and George retired and divided their time between Pompano Beach, Florida and Green Lake. In her prime years, she became a beloved member of the Green Lake community, including Lionettes, Business and Professional Women's Club, and a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
Her survivors include her two sons, Peter (Jean) of Ripon, George Jr. (Robyn) of Green Lake; three daughters, Mary Mockus of Ripon, Patricia (Robert) Mockus/Vorbau of Milwaukee, Tina Bernardi (John) of Hawthorn Woods, Il; and Cheryl Lueschen of Ripon, a special friend of the family. Two grandsons, Mario and Angelo Bernardi of Hawthorn Woods; and three granddaughters, Marla (Matt) Roberts of Milwaukee, Amanda Dille of Milwaukee and Cortney (Jarod) Gumbleton of Texas; along with many loving nieces, nephews and cherished friends. They were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Lucille's dedication to her family knew no bounds, and her presence will be deeply missed by each and every one of them. Lucille was known for her kindness and generosity and will always be remembered for her quick wit, warm smile, compassionate heart, and unwavering strength. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire all who knew her and will always have a “Lucille Story” to share. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Sr.; and two brothers, Harry and Alfred Peck.
Lucille's family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Prairie Place Assisted Living in Ripon, SSM Hospice, Chaplin Doug and Dr. Longo for the compassionate and outstanding care they provided during her final year of life.
A celebration of her life and memorial for family and friends to honor her by sharing memories and finding comfort in each other's company will held from 9:00 - 11:00 am on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 530 Ruth St., Green Lake, WI 54941. A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 am at the church, with Father Bosco Pudhota officiating. A private, family inurnment will take place at Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake, WI.
