Keith Mockus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Windsor Locks Funeral Home on Jul. 27, 2023.
In Loving Memory of Keith Wesley Mockus
West Stafford, CT - On July 23, 2023, the world bid farewell to Keith Wesley Mockus, a beloved son, brother, and master mechanic. Born on October 12, 1967, Keith brought joy and laughter into the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends that can never be filled.
Keith was the cherished son of Rochelle (Martel) Mockus and Wesley P. Mockus, the beloved brother of Jeffrey P. Mockus and Darrell S. Mockus and Uncle to Archer Mockus. He grew up in the close-knit community of Windsor Locks, CT, where he shared many memorable moments with friends and family. Keith graduated from Windsor Locks High School, where his infectious enthusiasm and determination endeared him to both teachers and peers alike.
Following his passion for mechanics, Keith honed his skills at Airport Taxi and Aamco Transmissions after high school before starting a 30-year career with Camerota Truck Parts (CTP). When CTP made the move into building automatic transmissions, Keith became an integral part of the first automatic transmission department. For 30 years Keith's career grew with CTP. He was a very talented Builder and his dedication to excellence led to him becoming the supervisor of the Gear Shop 3 Automatic Transmission Division, a title he held with great pride. His work ethic, commitment, and expertise were unparalleled, earning him the respect and admiration of all who worked alongside him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Keith was the light of any room he walked into. He had a persona that was bigger than life itself, an infectious smile, and a sense of humor like no other. His 5-foot frame always stood ten feet tall. He was always full of energy and often had a funny little dance move he'd do while also accomplishing some otherwise mundane task.. He loved to make up lyrics to songs and was always quick with witty retorts and one liners...He was an absolute blast to do just about anything with, and over the years he travelled many places, and had many interests, hobbies and adventures far too numerous to list here
Keith had a knack for being johnny on the spot and was often able to get himself or someone else out of a difficult situation smelling like roses. He was someone who you could count on to be quick in wit and deed to prevent something awful from happening. Keith had an insane level of stamina particularly before his illness in 2014, but also in the years after his stem cell transplant, he returned to snowmobiling skiing, boating and motorcycling
Keith found immense joy in restoring cars and motorcycles, a passion he inherited from his father and shared with his brothers. The thrill of bringing new life to old machines brought him a sense of fulfillment like no other. He was a master with a tool in his hand and his skills were greatly appreciated whenever you needed a hand. He had an eye for detail and a desire for perfection. He loved to modify and personalize everything he owned or had a part in creating.
In addition to his mechanical prowess, Keith also enjoyed spending weekends fishing on Long Island sound, and snowmobiling in VT. He was also a skier, snowboarder, gear head and an all-around daredevil with a penchant for speed and the extreme. He often attempted and pulled off things no one expected. His amazing sense of balance, reaction time and ability to assess a situation allowed him to do some incredible things with seeming ease....
Keith leaves behind a legacy of love, camaraderie, adventure and joy. He will be dearly missed by his loving family. The bond they shared was unbreakable, and the memories they created together will forever be treasured.
Though he may no longer walk among us, Keith's spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. The lessons he taught and the love he shared will continue to inspire and guide us in the years to come.
