Lucille Librizzi Olivo, 97, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Litterio and Mary (Maggio) Librizzi. Affectionately known as Utz by some, Nanny by many and Lucy, to most who knew her, she was a memorable force in the lives of her friends and loved ones.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Salvatore F. Olivo, she is survived by her children, Theodore F. Olivo and his wife, Diane, Sal D. Olivo and his wife, Becky, Marylu (Silfies) Giuliano, Frank J. Olivo, and LuAnn Cremonni and her husband, Mark; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Lucy was the dear sister of the late Frank and Joseph Librizzi; mother-in-law of the late Thomas R. Silfies Jr. and Dr. Michael G. Giuliano; grandmother of the late Catherine A. and Thomas F. Olivo.
A lifelong Nutley resident, she met her husband Salvatore F. Olivo at Nutley High School, and they were married until his death in 1991. She was a dedicated daughter, a loving sister, a devoted mother and a generous grandmother and great-grandmother to her large family.
Lucy was the executive secretary, among many other roles, at Blue Ribbon Fuel Corporation, a company she supported for over six decades as she worked closely with her husband and later her sons, Sal and Frank, as well as her grandson, Tom. The fuel business was a positive presence in the community, providing an important service to thousands of customers over the years and giving back in many ways just like Lucy herself.
She was a parishioner of Holy Family Church and member of the Nutley Opti-Mrs. Club. Lucy was an avid reader, an active Scrabble player and a sports fan who closely followed the New York Giants, Rutgers University and Arizona State University football teams. She was also an active Nutley Raiders fan and would often attend the sporting events of her children, grandchildren and eventually her great-grandchildren. A gifted cook, Lucy was known for her love of preparing and eating food with her friends and family. A world traveler with a strong sense of humor, she will be remembered by those who knew for her generosity with her time, gifts and strong opinions.
Private services were held at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair.
