Lucille (Small) Reed (1941-2024)
Lucille (Small) Reed of White Plains, New York, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, at the age of 83, in her residence. Lucille was born on April 9, 1941, in Clarksville, Virginia, to Samuel H. Small and Sophie (Small) (Vernable) Puryear, Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, and caregiver. She was married to her late husband, Isiah "Penda" Reed, for 29 years, and dedicated herself to his care until his passing.
Lucille was renowned for her exceptional cooking, and her potato salad was a staple at every family gathering. She had a fulfilling career as a caregiver and cook at Unified Creative Program for 32 years. Her legacy is one of kindness, empathy, and love. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Lucille is survived by Doretha Jones her daughter, Douglas Jones Sr. her son-in-law, her grandchildren: Jeffrey Bates, Adam Bates, Doeneseya Bates, and Douglas Jones Jr.; her Great Grandchildren: Elijah Bates and Aaliyah Bates; her sisters: Cleo S. Marrow and Geriline Small and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. Lucille is Predeceased by her sisters: Corine Hayes, Dorothy Tuck, and Edith TerryBrother: Frank Small, Sterling Small and Donald Small.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to her nephew Robert E. Tuck and niece Denise Reed for their loving support and care.
