N. UTICA - Mrs. Lucille A. "Lulu" (Rossi) Wereszynski, age 80, peacefully went home to be with the lord on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
Born in Utica on April 25, 1945, to the late Salvatore and Concetta (Pettinato) Rossi, Lucille spent her childhood in the area, attended local schools, and graduated from T.R. Proctor High School with the class of 1964.
On April 27, 1968, she wed the love of her life, Ronald F. "Ron" Wereszynski. From that day forward, the loving and devoted couple embarked on a decades-long union filled with beautiful memories and a joyful family life.
At one time, Lucille held various positions in the food service department of the Utica City School District.
Lucille's greatest accomplishment and priority was fulfilling her role as the family matriarch. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She centered her life around her family's needs and gave every member a piece of her nurturing and loving heart. She never missed a family event and was happiest when she was in the company of her loved ones. Her husband and children were her entire life.
In her free time, "Lulu" enjoyed coffee with friends and trying her luck on the slots at Turning Stone.
Lucille is survived by her loving husband, Ronald; children and their spouses, Raechele and Jeff Pexton, Karla and Andrew Salvatore, and Ronald "Ronnie" Wereszynski; and grandchildren, Adam and Gabriella Pexton. She treasured the memory of her grandson, Trevor Alexander "Bobby" Salvatore, who passed away on July 22, 2003. She is additionally survived by her granddaughters, Jenna Salvatore, and Kayla Salvatore; along with her sisters, Gloria Simonette and Carol "Cookie" Abruzzo (the late Timothy Abruzzo); and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary M. and Nancy L. Wereszynski. She fondly remembered her sisters and brothers-in-law who preceded her, Rose and Tony Mastracco, Mary and Peter Capparulo, Isabelle "Izzy" Rossi, Josephine "Joanne" and Raymond Sabino, Virgina "Jeannie" and Kenneth Berthiaume, Angeline "Angie" and Louis Ficchi, and Betty Jane Rossi. She was also preceded by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Zigmund P. "Ziggy" and Anna T. (Tanoury) Wereszynski; and nephews, Frank S. Norelli, Anthony "Nino" Abruzzo, Michael Catrombone, Anthony Mastracco, Joseph Depaul, Joseph Ficchi, John Capparulo, and Scott Bushway. Her loss is also felt by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many wonderful family friends, especially acknowledging her nephew and niece, Raymond and Donna Sabino.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend chapel service and prayers of committal on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, 2407 Oneida St., Utica. Inurnment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
