Ms. Lucinda Swanson, 84, loving mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend of South Bend, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday January 5, 2025 surrounded by her family and friend.
Lucinda was born on January 26, 1940 in Driver Mississippi, a gift from God to the late James and Katherine Battles. Lucinda married Robert Lewis Tipton and four boys were born from this reunion.
Lucinda accepted Christ at a early age at the New Bethel Church in Dyersburg TN under the leadership of the Late Pastor Carter, She attended Bruce high school before moving to South Bend, Indiana. She joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church in 1995 and was a dedicated member of the Usher Board where she joyfully served as a chief Usher, Secretary and faithful member until 2019 when her health started to fail her, but that didn't keep her down she quickly then joined the mothers board where she served until she was called home.
Lucinda loved her church, coming to fellowship was something she would look forward to especially hearing Mary and Pam sing, she enjoyed working in her yard attending to her flowers, and most of all talking to whomever she could whenever she could. Her favorite saying was....ima do what I can, while I can and sometime, she would use her favorite four letter words.
Survivors left to cherish her loving memory include three sons, Anthony Tipton of Dyersburg, TN., Robert Lewis Jr. (Tracy) and Vincent Tipton of South Bend; two sisters, Mary Burton of Southfield, Michigan and Sarah Smith (Duke) of New Mexico; one brother, Grady Battles (Alice) of Dyersburg, TN; grandkids, Joshua (Michelle) Tipton-Troyer of South Bend, Indiana, Tory Tipton of Flint, Michigan, Mark Anthony Mays and Latasha Farrell of Dyersburg, TN; God Daughter, Johnquis (Muffin) Powell of Noblesville, Indiana, and special Friend, Gloria Bridges (Deadrick) of South Bend, Indiana; alone with a host of family and friends.
