Lucius Rogers, Jr. was born on December 15, 1970, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to the late Matilda Bonds McDowell and Lucius Rogers, Sr. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Lee Hamilton. Upon moving within Forrest City, he joined New Light Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jessie McClure. Lucius was a quiet man with a big heart who lived a very private life. He enjoyed the peace of nature, especially sitting by the river and taking in the beauty of God's creation. After completing high school in Forrest City, Lucius moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where he began his career. He worked in the restaurant industry, served as a custodian at a movie theater, was employed by the railroad, and also worked in construction until his health declined. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matilda Bonds McDowell Deal and Lucius Rogers, Sr.; one brother, Charles McDowell; and two sisters, Loriann and Gloria McDowell. He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings: James Lee McDowell, Blanche Weeams, Larry McDowell (Ollie), Mary McDowell (Darnell), David McDowell, Edward McDowell (Louella), Diane Holloway, James "Junior" McDowell, Jerry McDowell, Louis Rogers (Misty), Martha McDowell Rochelle (Floyd), Tomicho McDowell (Maurice), Kimberly Bowers and Cynitha Ann Bowers. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will forever treasure his life and legacy.
