Lucy Askin Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Memorial Chapel on Nov. 11, 2025.
Lucy Anne Askin made her transition to Heaven being held by her family on Friday, November 7, 2025. Lucy was born on January 31, 1946 to her loving parents Norean and Lester Noble in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Lucy's number one priority throughout her time on earth was family. She loved her sisters Peggy, Evelyn (Dan) McCormick, and Arlene (Bob) Krause with her whole heart, and she even passed on her mothers birthday to celebrate her one hundred and first birthday with her in Heaven. Caring for her children Tim, Debbie (Jack) McDonald, Jodi(Joe) Krause, and Jesse (Christina) Askin and her grandchildren Shauna (Kevin) Simon, Jessica, Will, Faith, Ally, Emmy, JJ, Quinn, Bear and Tyler brought her more joy and her happiest memories. Lucy had the most beautiful love story with her husband Bruce Askin. They were married for 59 years and are now reunited together in God's kingdom. Anyone who knew Lucy knew the joy and peace starting a family brought to her. She was able to become a great grandma to Charlie, Graham, and Mallory and was able to foster over 80 children throughout her lifetime. She brought countless smiles and memories to everyone she met. There was no more beautiful person than Lucy.
While being a beautiful person, she was also able to make beautiful sentiments for her family and friends. Lucy had a passion for sewing and quilting. She sewed baby blankets for her children and grandchildren, quilts for her friends, and other priceless tokens of her love for those in her community. Another of her passions was her devotion to Jesus. Lucy believed in nothing more than the infinite love of God and the grace of him. As a young adult she served in her church in Michigan alongside Bruce as a youth group leader and led the women's ministry at West Chicago Bible Church for decades. God walked beside her every day of her life and was her refuge. She found serenity in the Lord's presence and the knowledge of his goodness. "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." - Deuteronomy 31:8-9
Lucy was willful and determined throughout all trials in her life. As she always said, "I could give up chocolate, but I am no quitter". This is consistent with a chocolate donut and a coke being her last foods. Lucy fought hard till the end and was able to rest peacefully after a long fight.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to The West Chicago Bible Church (https://www.westchicagobiblechurch.com) or the ECFA (https://www.evancfa.org/donate) to continue on her legacy.
Lucy's memorial service will be held at West Chicago Bible Church (209 S Oakwood St. West Chicago) on Saturday November 29, 2025 at 11AM
