Lucy Ann Davis, of Booneville, Arkansas, passed away August 10, 2024, in Geneseo, Illinois, surrounded by her loved ones just 14 days shy of her 100th birthday.
Lucy was born in Kenner, Louisiana, August 24, 1924, to Italian immigrants, the late Joseph and Josephine Maniglia. She grew up in San Jose, California where she met and married her husband of 50 years, Newton Davis. They raised their family in California for many years before relocating to Booneville, Arkansas in 1969 to raise cattle. Lucy was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Booneville and retired from Today's Kids in 1989.
Having lived for nearly a century, Lucy knew that life wasn't so much what we do but who we do it with and how we love one another while doing it. She was happiest surrounded by family and friends and was known as 'Granny' not just by her grandkids but friends that she made feel like family. Her days were consistently marked by loving others sacrificially. Whether she made you a homemade apple pie, played a game of Gin Rummy or Rook with you, watched a baseball game together or prepared you a meal of her infamous Italian cuisine, you knew she loved you unconditionally and had a special knack for making you feel like her "favorite". When she wasn't loving you in deed, you could be sure she was loving you through countless time on her knees praying for you. In this way, Lucy loved tirelessly through both open doors of hospitality and behind them always keeping many on her mind and in her heart. So while we mourn by such a great loss, Lucy's legacy of faith, love and sacrificial service lives on through the hearts of those she touched.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Newton Davis (March 30, 2004); sons, Jerry Davis (November 11, 2022) and Johnny Davis (July 16, 2023); daughter, Mary Ellen Barnett (May 1985), and siblings, Frank, Rose, Lena, Leo, Marie, Joseph, Kelly and Josie.
A visitation is planned for Saturday, August 17 at 1pm followed by a Celebration of Life at the First United Methodist Church in Booneville at 2pm with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Lucy is loved and will be deeply missed by her daughter, Jackie Jobe (Jeffrey) of Geneseo, Illinois; son, James Davis (Suzanne) of Orem, Utah; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First United Methodist Church at 355 N Broadway Avenue, Booneville, AR 72927.

There were many evenings I spent playing cards with Lucy, Newt, Lila, Russell, and Lillian. It was always filled with love and laughter! I can still hear her tell Grandpa Ezell to put some game on it so he´d know she was catching the hand in Rook. She would eat the hottest peppers, wipe her brow, and keep on going. She will be missed by many as she loved by all who knew her.
