Lucy Kruger Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 5, 2024.
Lucy Lou Kruger was born July 21st, 2024 to parents Christiane and Christopher Kruger in Ann Arbor. She was a spitfire from the very moment she entered this world, just like her big sister Callie Rose and puppy Ginger Poodle. She died peacefully at home in the arms of her family August 2nd, 2024. Lucy lived life to the fullest during her short 12 days on earth. All she ever knew was love.
Shortly after birth, Lucy was baptized by her father in the presence of her whole family. There is no greater love than God's love which will envelop her for eternity. Lucy exceeded all expectations and was discharged from the hospital at just 24 hours of life. As is typical for fresh newborns, she headed straight to the Arb for a family photoshoot. Lucy and Callie stole the show and their parents couldn't help but smile from ear to ear on their way home to Milan as a family of four. The first few days at home were filled with family fun, snuggles, tears, laughs, and sleepless nights as Lucy decided she wanted to be a night shifter. Callie was a five-star tour guide, accompanying Lucy to all the Milan hot spots-Life is Sweet Bakery, Wilson Park, and Milan Public Library.
Lucy was an overachiever, of course, so after a few days at home, her family decided to get out of dodge and head to Grammy and Jiddou's house in Grosse Pointe. Callie was excited to show Lucy the ropes at the Shores pool where she got to meet lots of her cousins and walk the boardwalk in search of big fish. Lucy was also able to attend Mass at her home church, St. Paul on the Lake.
Being the Michigander she was, Lucy decided she didn't want to leave us without going "Up North" to Grandma and Pa's cottage on Houghton Lake. There's nothing that embodies family life like a three-hour road trip. In what can only be described as a miracle from God, Callie and Lucy slept the entire car ride up.
The next three days, Lucy learned to love the "Up North" life. Mornings were filled with coffee on the deck, woods walks, and park adventures. Afternoons were spent on the pontoon at the sand bar. These are moments her family will cherish forever.
Lucy's 12-day adventure ended peacefully at home, surrounded by those who loved her most. She is survived by her parents Christiane and Christopher Kruger, big sister Callie Kruger, uncles Mikey (Tiana) and Joey Abiragi, aunt Jessie Kruger, and grandparents Roger and Carol Abiragi and Dave and Cindy Kruger.
Funeral Wednesday, August 7th, Instate 9:30am until the time of Mass, 10:00am, at St Paul on the Lake Catholic Church, 157 Lake Shore Rd., Grosse Pointe Farms.
Her parents would like to thank family and friends for their endless prayers, thoughtful gifts, and unwavering support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to make a donation to hartfund.org in Lucy's name.
To my Lucy Lou,
Every day carrying you was a gift. A gift I would choose over and over again. You were so loved and desired. Nine months of growing, loving, and yearning for you. Nine beautiful months of being one with you. I cherished every twist, turn, and kick inside of me. Every sweet movement and discomfort was a reminder of your beautiful presence. You are immeasurably perfect in the eyes of your Dad and me. We will always hold you close to our hearts. You, like your name, are a constant reminder to find light in our deepest moments of darkness. You will always be our greatest blessing and guardian angel. You stole our hearts away.
Love, Your Mama

Lucy is a beautiful reminder that every day is a gift, and not to be taken for granted. She could not have been born into a more courageous, loving and faith-filled family. She received a lifetime of love in 12 short days. You are a testament to the love of Christ, and Lucy is a great example of how God can take a tragedy and use it for good. May this little angel rest in peace in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior.
