Lucy David Rafidi

Lucy David Rafidi, age 75, daughter of Musa and Nabiah Akel, passed away on December 25, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida, after 8 months of an extended illness. Lucy was a Christian and raised her family at San Jose Catholic Church. She was a caring daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, friend, caregiver, community member, and a diligent worker with a high work ethic. Lucy attended middle school and some high school in Jacksonville, Florida, and then moved to Lexington, Kentucky, where she earned her high school diploma from Layfette High School. She then attended the University of Kentucky for a few semesters. Lucy was a business owner and a loan underwriter for First Union Bank. She was married to David Rafidi from February 11, 1973, until he passed away on January 5, 2006. Lucy is survived by her two daughters, Lucille David Rafidi and Dina Marie Bayard (Craig Bayard, husband), and a granddaughter Victoria Lynn Bayard. Her sister Siham Akel (Salem Akel, husband), Nuha Farah, Eddy Akel (Colleen Akel, wife), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her spirit, love, and care are still with us. She will always be in our hearts. Her legacy will live on.
A visitation for Lucy will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207. A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 12:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church, 2619 Toledo Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32217. A committal service will occur Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207.
