Lue Ray Goad, 90, of
Fort Gibson, OK was born July 11, 1933 in Muskogee, OK to Silas Isum Goad and Sarah Elizabeth (Boswell) Goad. He peacefully passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 in Muskogee with his loving family by his bedside.
He worked as baker for the National Biscuit Company located in Muskogee at an early age of 15. In 1951, Lue Ray enlisted into the Air Force and was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, CA. In 1955, he left the Air Force serving in the Aleutian Islands in the intelligence area of the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal while serving as a member of the 5th Operations Squadron (SAC).
Moving back to Oklahoma, he became a route salesman for Dolly Madison Cakes. His career lasted 35 years and he eventually became the plant manager for Dolly Madison Cakes in Emporia, KS before retiring in 1993.
With his growing family and career promotions, Lue Ray lived in several other towns/cities spanning over four states (Muskogee, OK, Fairfield, CA, Tulsa, OK, Bixby, OK,
Houston, TX, Emporia, KS, Grove, OK and
Fort Gibson, OK). He enjoyed boating and fishing. He loved spending time teaching his daughters, nieces, nephews, and grandkids to water ski and fish. Lue Ray will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
With his first wife, Carol Jean Pratt Goad, he helped raise four daughters. His daughters were taught how to keep a car clean as well as being able to change tires on their cars or they would call "Tommy" to the rescue. He once said when asked, "What was so good about raising girls?" His response, "Nothing better!" After 56 years of marriage Carol passed in 2010.
On March 20, 2012 he married Mary Jane Hilger-McLeod in Van Buren, AR. Together they spent 11 years making precious memories together. Lue Ray was a member of the Muskogee Boat Club and served as Commander for a while. He was also a member of the Frank Gladd American Legion Post #20 in Fort Gibson. He loved to go to functions where there was good food and time to visit with his friends.
Lue was preceded in death by his parents, first wife; Carol; brothers, Leonard, Clifford, Oraies, Bill, J.I.; sisters, Hattie Tadpole and Edna Barger; special brother-in-law Mutt Tadpole and sister-in-law, Ruth McLemore.

• 3 step-grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 1 great step-grandchild; many nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
A Celebration of life will be held at 11:30AM Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at the Cherokee established cemetery, Citizens Cemetery Pavilion (84 South Gladd Road),
Fort Gibson, OK. Lue Ray was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. After the celebration of life, lunch will be provided at the Frank Gladd American Legion Post #20 (201 SE Railroad Road) in
Fort Gibson, OK where family and friends can share moments together. Please join us there!
