Obituary
Luena M. Darr, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. Born on October 8, 1933, in Gaspe, Canada, Luena was one of thirteen children. She was a beacon of love, kindness, and thoughtfulness, touching the lives of everyone she met.
Luena attended high school in Ontario, Canada, before moving on to LaSalle University, where she earned her doctorate in Psychology. Her passion for helping others led her to dedicate her life to the development of Theotherapies Seminars Inc., a company she proudly served as President until her retirement in 2016. Her commitment to her work was unwavering, and she was revered for her dedication and leadership.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Luena was a prolific writer. Her most recent work, a book titled "Love," is a testament to her compassionate nature and her belief in the power of love to heal and transform lives. Her words continue to inspire and comfort many, even in her absence.
Luena was a woman of deep faith, a faithful believer in Christ. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and decisions. She was a selfless caretaker and minister of the people, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her heart of gold was evident in her every action, and she was known for her unwavering kindness and generosity.
Family was at the heart of Luena's life. She is survived by her sister, Lorna and her children, Michael (Cheryl) Darr, Pauline Cumer, Beverly (Michael) McDonough, and Mary Lash. She was a cherished grandmother to Krista Cirell, Ryan Michael Cirell, Michael McDonough, Jr., Rachel Cirell, James McDononugh, and Shawn McDonough. She also leaves behind her great-grandsons, Gavin and Christian, who brought immense joy to her life. Luena is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Darr; siblings; Thelma, Verna, Coreen, Lidwin, Arlene, Lillian, Darell, Gavin, Sylvia, Lawrence, and Richard.
Luena's legacy of love and kindness will live on through her family and the countless lives she touched. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. As we remember Luena, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love, kindness, and service to others.
Friends are welcome Thursday from 2-7 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory; 700 Linden Ave. at Cable;
East Pittsburgh, PA 15112; (412) 824-8800, where a Funeral Service will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m.
Luena will be laid to rest in Restland Memorial Park.
