Luis Juarez "Bbq" Colunga

Luis "BBQ" Juarez Colunga, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 10, 2025 while surrounded by family, here in Del Rio. He was born on November 28, 1944 in Ciudad Acuña.
A brief capture in the the life of Luis Colunga; at the age of 18 he began to work at a restaurant unknowingly developing his skills in the business. He also worked at the Cinemark Virginia in Cuidad Acuna, Coahuila. Shortly after he married Velma Delgado in 1974 and began a life journey together. El Senor Luis Colunga then immigrated to the United States in 1975. He began his family and established a life in Del Rio, Texas. In order to provide for his family he became the Founder of "Luis BBQ" in 1986. He owned two restaurants serving a mexican menu which included barbacoa, menudo, chiles rellenos and hamburgers on the weekend to those spending time at the local flea market.
Surviving family members include his beloved wife of 51 years, Velma Alicia Delgado de Colunga of Del Rio; children: Luis A. Colunga and wife Brenda Colunda of Del Rio, Fernando Colunga and wife Janie Colunga of Del Rio, Martha Estrada and husband Luis Estrada of Big Lake, Tx, Rolando Colunga of Del Rio, and Angela Colunga of Del Rio; grandchildren: Luis Angel Estrada, Alexis M. Colunga, Luisreymundo Colunga, Marina Estrada, Leticia Estrada, Klarissa Colunga, Leslie N. Colunga, Alicia Lynn Colunga, Celeste Colunga, Diego A. Colunga, Mario A. Arrañaga, Christian Colunga, Christi Colunga, Jorge A. Briones, Jayden A. Briones, Jayven A. Briones, and Biviana Colunga; great grandchildren: Debanhi Martinez, Damian Martinez, Danali Rivas, Lizzette A. Ruelas; Luis is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Faith.
A chapel service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Luis Angel Estrada, Luis Reymundo Colunga, Diego A. Colunga, Christian Colunga, Mario A. Arrañaga, Jorge A. Briones, Jayden A. Briones, and Jayven A. Briones
