It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Luis Oppenheimer, aka Furby on December 4, 2022, at the age of 35 years old. Luis was born June 21st of 1987 in Methuen. He was the second oldest child out of 6. He had gotten his nickname as a child from friends and family in the neighborhood in which he grew up in the South End of Springfield.
Luis was a loving brother, son, uncle, father, and friend. He will be missed dearly by those he leaves behind, His two children: young son Josiah and his beautiful daughter Neveah. His Mother: Maria Escalante, Brother: George Delgado and 4 sisters Yashira Oppenheimer, Stacy Delgado, Vanessa Delgado, and Destiny Delgado.
He lived a life full of excitement. He may have sometimes been hard on his family but it was for the better. As the oldest brother his siblings looked up to him as he took on the role of a father figure to his youngest siblings, he didn't want his siblings to go through what he had gone through growing up and always tried his best to keep them away from that. He was definitely his family's protector! He was a very smart and intelligent individual and a very funny and charismatic person, he made everyone laugh everywhere he went. As soon as you walked through the door he would greet you with a big sarcastic smile that would make everyone laugh. He had a laugh and smile you wouldn't forget.
Loyalty was big to him and he showed it every day. He was taken too soon from his loving family and children. He was a tough lover but anyone who met him instantly created a lifelong bond with him. He was loved immensely. No words can describe the pain his family, friends, and children feel from this loss. Furby gained his wings too soon. What a legacy, what a life. I invite each of you to keep Furby alive in your hearts.
