Luis Viera-Diaz

Luis Raul Viera Diaz of Denver, PA, passed away surrounded by family at home on November 2, 2025.
Luis was born April 10, 1938 in Naguabo, Puerto Rico. He was the son of the late Gonzalo Viera and Luisa Viera Diaz. He was a long time resident of Carteret, NJ, where he lived and worked for many years. Later in life he moved to Pennsylvania where he lived in the care of his loving daughter, Maria Plaksin, for the past 9 years.
Luis worked on the family farm in Puerto Rico when he was younger. He then moved to New Jersey where he continued to work hard as the eldest child to assist his family. He loved music, playing the guitar, playing dominoes, and spending time with his family and friends. Luis was an amazing father who raised his three children on his own as a single father.
He is survived by his three children; Maria Viera Plaksin, wife of David Plaksin, Luisa Sica, wife of Richard Sica, and Luis R. Viera, Jr., husband of Maria Evangelista Viera. Additionally, he is survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will take place from 2:00 to 3:30 PM, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver, PA. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 PM.
Memorial contributions in Luis's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
Interment at the convenience of the family.
