Luisa Cepeda Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brady & Fallon Funeral Home - Jamaica Plain on Sep. 2, 2022.
Luisa Ramos Cepeda, age 105, of Mattapan, formerly of Loiza, Puerto Rico, passed away on July 9, 2022. Visiting hours at Iglesia Pentacostal Evangelica 179 Glenway St. Dorchester on Friday July 15 at 6 pm until 9 pm. Funeral from the church on Saturday July 16 from 10 am until 11 am. Interment St. Michael Cemetery. She is survived by her children Eulalia Calderon, Gloria Pinet, Carlos Pinet, and Luz Mildred Pinet. She is predeceased by her sons Modesto Pinet and David Pinet. She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Luisa, lovingly known as "Wi", was born on August 25,1916 in Loiza, Puerto Rico to her parents Estebania Cepeda and Juan Ramos. She moved to Boston in the late 70s and made it her home for the last forty plus years. Even though she left her native Puerto Rico, she never left behind the culture and traditions she knew, especially having Bustelo coffeeand "galletas" (crackers) early each morning and late at night before bed. Luisa loved gathering with her vast family to talk, laugh, sing, eat, play bingo, and give you her straight up talks that always ended with a bible scripture. Her faith in God sustained her throughout her life. The bible was her sword and the foundation that she lived by. She often quoted Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". She sought to pass on that same faith to her children, their children, and their children's children. There were many life lessons she taught all of us that will forever remain engraved in our hearts. The number one lesson was to seek God first in everything we do. Of the many aspects of her well-lived life, Luisa's unconditional love and devotion for family is her most defining legacy. She was "el tronco" (strength) of the family. The many family gatherings happened because of "Wi". She was the chain that tied our family together. Her 100th birthday celebration revealed how powerful her legacy is. Everyone came together to celebrate this special loving woman of God. From her family, close friends, neighbors, church members, and everyone in between we shared the love and joy of being in her presence. To all who knew her she was a Fashionista, who loved wearing sunglasses even when there was no sun, dressing in leggings and colorful loafers, getting her hair done and braided, and crossing her legs like a lady should. If you came to her house with any jewelry or anything shiny you knew you were going home without it. Somehow, she would convince you to give it up because it would look better on her. She was especially passionate about watches, blow pops, and ice cream. She enjoyed singing hymns, being sang to, and always looked forward to family game nights. She was always prepared for the moment God would call her home. Her message to loved ones was always, "I am leaving and where I am going, I will be fine. I don't want you to cry for me because where I am going, I will be well. I am leaving in peace and in much delight!
